So August 2017 got off to the best start ever, firstly with my birthday where as usual I was completely spolit rotten by my friends and family, then yesterday afternoon I opened my emails to discover that I’d been announced as a finalist in two categories of The North of England wedding Awards in association with The Wedding Guide UK. I had to read the emails a number of times before it sunk in as I thought that there was no way it could be true, Whimsical Events a finalist in the Yorkshire Wedding Coordinator and Yorkshire Wedding Services Coordinator categories, no way!
My business is just a little over 18 months old, it is growing from strength to strength on a monthly basis, but it is still pretty small compared to other suppliers within the industry. The awards are to recognise businesses which go the extra mile for their customers, providing outstanding service and inspiring customers to want to actively and positively promote them. The bigger companies with hundreds of past clients and followers normally, naturally get the most votes.
Because of this, I nearly didn’t ask my past clients to vote at all, I was a little scared of throwing myself out there. After a conversation with the big chief (AKA Dad) he very wisely said that I owed it to the people who had nominated me in the first place to ask my past clients for their vote and told me ‘you have to be in it to win it Kirsti!’ I asked away on social media, sent a few emails and the rest as they say is history! It just means so much to me, that my past clients took the time out of their busy lives to do vote for me and my little business. So I want to say a huge thank you to anyone who voted.
The next step in the process is a panel of judges will assess the finalists prior to the awards gala dinner on 18th September at York Racecourse. The competition in both categories is really stiff with some much more established suppliers than myself, so I’m not getting my hopes up. I am just over the moon to be a finalist, it’s such an achievement for my little business and makes me feel ridiculously proud of how far it’s grown.
The tickets for the gala dinner are booked and I’ll be joining the lovely Lynette and Sue from Elenor Rose Bridal, who are also finalists in the Yorkshire Bridal Gowns and Occasion Wear category and I promise to keep you posted on the evening.
I’m just so ridiculously excited, thank you so much – my clients are the best!
